Seabourn took delivery of its first expedition cruise ship, Seabourn Venture, on Wednesday, June 29, during an official handover maritime ceremony at T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa (Milan, Italy).
Seabourn Venture is the first of the cruise line’s 2 purpose-built, ultra-luxury expedition vessels and the industry's newest expedition ship.
Seabourn President Josh Leibowitz said that day was so incredibly special and important as they took ownership of their first ultra-luxury expedition ship and welcomed Seabourn Venture to the Seabourn family.
“The Mariotti team has done a wonderful job in the building of the ship and bringing Adam Tihany’s stunning design vision to life. Seabourn Venture will raise the bar in ultra-luxury expedition travel, and we look forward to introducing her to the world as she sets sail to explore remote destinations from the polar regions in the Arctic to the southernmost continent of Antarctica.”
Marco Ghiglione, Managing Director of T. Mariotti said Seabourn Venture was the fairest one of all, ice-class PC6 certified to call polar routes.
"Since we started building Seabourn Venture, the world has literally changed before our eyes, requiring unexpected efforts. The great dedication and passion of the team made by T. Mariotti and subcontractors with Seabourn have been the keys to success.”
A second sistership to Venture (Seabourn Pursuit) is planned to start operations in March 2023 (initially in 2022/May, then in December).
Venture and Pursuit are part of Seabourn Expeditions' fleet. These boats are PC6 (Polar-Class 6) classed expedition cruise ships and carry (each) 2x mini-submarines (custom-built submersibles with max occupancy of 7 persons/6 passengers + 1 pilot/read more in the ship's Wiki section), 24x Zodiacs (large-capacity RIBs/motorized boats used for tendering and landings/shoreside exploration), a fleet of sea kayaks. Each ship has a total of 132 staterooms, all of which are outside (balconied) suites.
