On Sunday, July 17th, at 7 am local time (5 am UTC), MSC Cruises' ship MSC Bellissima docked at the new Baleares Wharf at Port Tarragona (Spain Costa Daurada).
With a length of 315 m, volume 171,589 GT-tons, and max passenger capacity 5686 (plus 1536 crew), this is the largest passenger liner ever to call at Tarragona.
Representatives of the Port Authority led by Nuria Obiols (Director of Port Operations) presented a commemorative metope of the first arrival in Port Tarragona waters to the captain, Roberto Leotta, and his crew.
The special event was also attended by Alba Colet (GPH-Global Ports Holding), Montse Royo (Berge Maritima), Eugenia Mendoza (Lantimar), and representatives of MSC Cruises.
The call at Tarragona involved the embarkation/partial disembarkation of 408/433 passengers (respectively) and lasted 13 hours (7 am to 8 pm) when Bellissima set sail from the Balears Wharf.
This was the first of all 9 calls MSC will make in Tarragona in 2022. 8 more port calls are scheduled for 2022, along with the call by MSC Magnifica scheduled for November 11th.
MSC Bellíssima arrived at the port of Tarragona from Valencia (Spain). She then set sail for Genoa (Milan, Italy) to continue to the Italian ports of Livorno (Florence-Pisa) and Naples.
The cruise ship will call at Tarragona on Sundays: July 31, August 21, September 4 & 25, and October 9, 16 & 23.
