RCI-Royal Caribbean embarks on a marketing campaign for the new class of cruise ships, joining the fleet in Fall 2023.
The line's Icon of the Seas is scheduled to enter service as the first in the series in the fall. The company is promising “the best family vacation in the world” and is launching a major marketing campaign for the ship with a video series entitled making an Icon - Episode 1 Envisioning an Iconic Vacation.
According to RCI's CEO Michael Bayley who describes the ship in the first episode, Icon OTS is "the best thing Royal Caribbean has built in the last 50 years".
However, the first episode doesn't yet contain specific details about the new class, but it does contain insights into the planning process for a new class and some pictures of the building of the Icon in Turku, Finland.
What is officially known so far is that the Icon of the Seas will be powered by LNG-liquid gas and advanced environmental technology will be used. Details from the financial report of the shipping company say there should be room for ~5,600 passengers onboard.
Icon of the Seas will probably make her debut in Great Britain, but will then have PortMiami Florida as her base port for the 2023-2024 winter season.
