Brodosplit Shipyard (in Split Croatia) has signed a US$1.5 billion shipbuilding contract with Storylines for the residence cruise ship MV Narrative. The newbuild is currently scheduled for delivery in 2025-Q1.
The 232.5-m-long ultra-luxury vessel is expected to be the first fully ecologically sustainable LNG-powered passenger ship.
Alistair Punton (Storylines' CEO) said they were "delighted to be partnering with such a respected European shipyard that has a long history of building high-quality passenger ships."
"According to him, the ship will provide its residents with the comfort of home. It differs from other cruisers in that it is intended for the complete life of residents at sea. It will also have a post office, school, library, hospital, bank, swimming pools, business premises and about 20 different catering facilities. It will also be the largest wellness center at sea in the world with its own gardens, farms and space for several types of sports and recreation on board."
The expected delivery timeline of the newbuild residential ship is in 2024-Q4.
MV Narrative boasts fully-furnished staterooms/residences ranging between 235-2410 f2. (22-224 m2), priced from US$300,000 to over US$8 million for a premium 2-level penthouse suite. Owners and invited guests will have the chance to live a sustainable life of freedom and luxury while at sea. Owners can make their units available via Storylines' rental program.
The boat has 16 decks, of which 13 are passenger-accessible and 11 with cabins.
Positioned as the greenest vessel in the market, Narrative utilizes LNG fuel together with innovative reusable energy technologies, energy storage, and recovery systems.
The newbuild also boasts a waterfront marina, hydroponic gardens, art studio, microbrewery, and a Helideck with a helicopter.
