Costa Luminosa completed her final sailing as a Costa Cruises ship and is one step closer to joining CCL-Carnival Cruise Line as Carnival Luminosa.
When the boat arrived in Trieste (Italy) on Sunday, September 4, Costa Luminosa officially finished her final sailing with Costa.
That final itinerary was a tribute to Luminosa's Mediterranean heritage, as a 7-night round-trip that took in ports across the Adriatic.
The 92720 GT-ton liner was built by Fincantieri at its Marghera yard (close to Venice) and entered service in 2009.
Now Luminosa will be remodeled as a Carnival ship (with max passenger capacity 2826) and brand new features, facilities and amenities on board.
The additions to Costa Luminosa include CCL's adults-only Serenity Retreat, the Punchliner Comedy Club, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, RedFrog Rum Bar, and Bonsai Sushi Express. The vessel will also feature Carnival's Playlist Productions shows and an exclusive Chef's Table (VIP dining) experience.
During the dry dock, Luminosa will also receive her distinctive red, white and blue livery on the hull that was first introduced with CCL's flagship Mardi Gras in 2021 and has been rolled out fleetwide.
The "old-new" liner will debut in Australia with a maiden voyage from homeport Brisbane QLD, departing on November 6th on a 7-night "Great Barrier Reef" itinerary.
