A satellite Internet constellation that is operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Starlink now delivers high-speed Internet connectivity onboard the twin luxury yachts of SeaDream - SeaDream I and SeaDream II.
The news follows the decision of the FCC-Federal Communications Commission earlier this summer to authorize SpaceX "to provide satellite Internet to vehicles in motion."
In operation as part of SeaDream’s $10M renovation investment, Starlink is the world’s first and biggest satellite constellation using a low-Earth orbit that is capable of supporting high-bandwidth activities like video calls, video streaming, online gaming, and more. By placing the Starlink constellation in low-Earth orbit, SpaceX can already deliver faster Internet than other systems by decreasing the distance that information has to travel to reach users.
The 56-stateroom SeaDream sisterships are highly regarded for their exclusive 5-star service, intimate onboard ambiance, and award-winning cuisine, with all activities provided in the open air. The modernizations include a wealth of touchpoints. Each upgrade is specially designed to align with the desires of luxury travelers. Under the care of renowned European designers and architects, these renovations provide passengers with state-of-the-art technology, luxurious lounging areas on all decks, and enhanced stateroom space.
