A small fire broke out on the Celestyal Cruises' ship Celestyal Crystal Tuesday afternoon, September 13, while she was docked at Rhodes Island, Greece.
The fire had started on the pool deck/Hera Deck of Celestyal Crystal, engulfing in flames a number of sunbeds and chairs.
The ship's onboard firefighting team rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire within ~10 minutes, Rhodes Fire Service confirmed after boarding the vessel.
Two fire brigades arrived at the entrance of the ship, which did not have to intervene. The Hellenic Coast Guard was also on standby.
A preliminary investigation has been conducted by Rhodes Port Authority, prohibiting Celestyal Crystal to sail.
However, after conducting a safety inspection the boat was allowed to set sail to her next destination, Heraklion (Crete Greece).
All passengers and crew are safe. No one was injured during the accident.
At the time of the accident, the ship was on a 7-day Idyllic Aegean cruise round-trip from Piraeus-Athens, Greece.
