Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is finally ready to debut its first ship.
The 298-guest Evrima, originally due to debut in January 2020, is today (October 15) setting sail on her maiden voyage from Barcelona (Spain) to Nice/ Villefranche-sur-Mer (France).
The superyacht will sail in the Americas (Central and South), the Caribbean, and Europe's Mediterranean Sea.
Evrima, which translates from Greek to "discovery," is expected to offer a menu of spa treatments and amenities like a sauna and steam room; watersports from the marina; and an infinity pool.
Dining options include a specialty dining experience by Sven Elverfeld, head chef of Aqua, a restaurant at Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg in Germany. Aqua has 3 Michelin stars.
Due to construction delays (shipbuilder's financial difficulties caused by the Coronavirus crisis), the vessel's delivery was first postponed for 6 months - from November 2020 to April 2021. Evrima's inauguration was rescheduled eight times - from 2020 (June 14) to 2021 (April 22, June 14, July 25, November 10) and 2022 (May 6th, June 25th, August 6th, and finally for October 15th). A total of 138 voyages (74x planned for 2020-2021 plus 64x planned for 2021-2022) were canceled.
Ritz-Carlton's shipbuilder is Astilleros Barreras Shipyard (Hijos de J. Barreras SA, with parent company Tropical Hoteles SA) in Vigo Spain. The vessel's construction (yard/hull number 1705) officially started with the keel-laying ceremony held on January 11, 2018.
On October 9, 2018, the vessel was launched (floated out from drydock) and moved to a shipyard pier for final outfitting. During the ceremony was also announced its initial name "Azora". In 2019, however, Ritz-Carlton decided to change the name and started to call the ship "Yacht 1". On October 14, 2019, was officially announced the vessel's new name "Evrima".
On March 20, 2021, the vessel (towed from Vigo) arrived at Astander Shipyard in Santander for exterior finishing (drydock works).
