Celebrity Cruises celebrated the brand's return to New Zealand on Wednesday, October 18th, after 946 days, with the debut of Celebrity Eclipse - the 3rd ship to return to Auckland since the COVID crisis.
Celebrity Eclipse was welcomed into Auckland following a transpacific voyage from Honolulu (Oahu Island, Hawaii). The ship was brought into Ports of Auckland by the world’s first full-sized all-electric harbor tug boat, ‘Sparky’.
Making her way to Sydney (NSW Australia) for the first official sailing of the 2022-2023 season in the region, the Eclipse ship will welcome guests onboard on Saturday, October 22, for a 12-night itinerary exploring the landscapes of New Zealand, which is the first of 17 cruises departing from Sydney/Auckland through to April 2023.
Celebrity Cruises vice president & managing director of Australia, New Zealand and APAC, Tim Jones, said it was a huge milestone for Celebrity and the local Auckland community with Celebrity Eclipse making her debut in New Zealand waters.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of our valued travel partners and guests and look forward to sharing in more celebrations together as we Journey WonderFULL throughout the Australia and New Zealand season.”
