Cunard Line announced a new line-up for Alaska 2023's InsightsTM enrichment program with Bear Grylls OBE, one of the most recognized personalities of outdoor adventure, headlining the season.
Grylls is joining Queen Elizabeth's maiden 2023 Alaska voyage, sailing roundtrip from Vancouver (BC Canada) on June 8, where he will share experiences as one of the youngest climbers of Mount Everest, TV presenter, bestselling author, and all-round adventurer. This will be his first appearance on a cruise ship as well as the first time he returns to Alaska since the memorable visit with President Barack Obama back in 2015.
Passengers aboard the 12-night voyage will be able to experience the Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier, and Tracy Arm Fjord with ports of call in Sitka, Juneau, Ketchikan, and more. Award-winning naturalist Dr.Rachel Cartwright and a Cultural Heritage Guide from Alaska Native Voices will be featured on the voyage as guests luxuriate onboard Queen Elizabeth through the breathtaking landscape of Alaska.
Cunard will offer 6 additional cruises in the region throughout June, July & August, each showcasing a different explorer as part of the line's Insights Program.
Passengers will have the chance to hear from marine archaeologist Mensun Bound, popular for his discovery of Shackleton's ship Endurance; British mountaineer Kenton Cool, who has summited Mount Everest 15 times; Ann Daniels, one of the leading Polar explorers in Britain and the first woman in history to ski to the North & South Poles as part of an all-women team; Felicity Aston MBE, polar scientist turned explorer, TV presenter, award-winning author, and the first woman to ski alone across the Antarctic.
