The cruise season in Uruguay is currently in full swing. According to local authorities, a total of 241 calls are expected during the summer months. On one day 3 cruise ships docked in Montevideo, MSC Preziosa with 4,300 guests, Azamara Pursuit with 379, and ms Oosterdam with 1,200.
All of the ships carried out fuel, water, and provisioning, plus the several thousand people who landed to visit Montevideo and see its attractions.
A week ago 4 cruise ships arrived in Montevideo among which the largest ever to call in the capital of Uruguay, MSC Seaview with 2,000+ cabins and ~5,400 passengers. The liner is expected to make 3 more calls both in Montevideo/the Atlantic seaside resort of Punta del Este.
In addition, MSC Seaview boasts an exclusive space: the Yacht Club which offers 86 suites and private dining areas, a bar, a solarium, and a butler service in each of the cabins.
In addition to this voyage, Azamara Pursuit and Celebrity Infinity which have a capacity for 694 passengers also visited Montevideo together with ms Oosterdam with a capacity for 1,964 guests.
The event was attended by Tabare Viera, Minister of Tourism; Remo Monzeglio, Undersecretary of Tourism; and Fernando Amado, Director of Tourism of the Municipality of Montevideo; among other authorities.
Referring to the arrival of 4 cruise ships in Montevideo, Minister Viera said it was a great day. He pointed out the importance of the work of the ANP (National Ports Administration), for receiving the 4 ships in one day, as well as the services provided to tourists.
“Today it is a record for at least the last eight years in terms of the number of cruises in the year and the number of passengers."
