CCL-Carnival Cruise Line is expected to usher in 2023 on land/at sea as President Christine Duffy will light the New Year’s Eve Ball in New York’s Times Square, and ~100,000 guests sailing on the company’s 24 ships will join in the celebration.
CCL will bring its signature, high-energy fun to New York City by joining one of the world's most iconic events as the official cruise line sponsor of Times Square New Year’s Eve as well as serve as a musical sponsor/countdown clock sponsor for “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” on ABC.
Christine Duffy will be on hand, along with the line's partner/renowned chef Emeril Lagasse, to flip the switch that will light the New Year’s Eve Ball and invite everyone to celebrate in New York City and watch from home to “Choose Fun Together,” which is the theme of Carnival’s 2023 advertising campaign. Guests across Carnival’s fleet can have their own fun as they also celebrate by getting a head start on choosing fun with family and friends.
Leading up to the countdown, Duffy will join the host of Times Square New Year’s Eve on the Countdown Stage during the 10:00 p.m. hour to share details about what passengers sailing from NYC can expect on Carnival Venezia, which will be homeported at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal a few blocks from Times Square.
Times Square’s billboards will showcase the Carnival campaign Choose Fun Together which underscores the line’s appeal across any age group by showcasing various ways passengers can Choose Fun, and find something of interest to everyone. The new ads highlight the special moments of fun that can happen when people come together on a Carnival cruise.
After debuting the campaign on Christmas Day, the New Year’s Eve integration is due to serve as the Choose Fun Together message’s biggest national launching point. The brand new campaign will continue to be seen across Carnival-owned channels/advertising placements throughout the New Year from social media posts on TikTok/Instagram to commercial spots on national streaming/broadcast TV to all other media placements like outdoor, paid social, audio, and additional digital extensions.
The launch of the "Choose Fun Together" campaign coincides with the industry’s 2023 wave season - the annual kick-off to cruise planning for millions of travel advisors and Americans. The campaign, specially created by Anomaly, is an extension of Carnival’s Choose Fun campaign that launched back in 2018. All paid media/integration elements were created by Initiative.
