Passengers on the largest cruise ship to call at Port Chalmers-Dunedin (New Zealand) this season sailed docked on early Tuesday, December 27th.
RCI-Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas ship sailed into Otago Harbour and then berthed at Beach St wharf at ~9 am.
Many of the travelers aboard decided to disembark and venture into the port city.
Hospitality providers, tourism operators, and retailers across Dunedin were preparing for the 4180 guests and 1300 crew, along with 2 other/smaller ships - Le Soleal and Seabourn Odyssey, to descend on the city and visit their businesses.
Dunedin is often nicknamed "Edinburgh of the South" because it resembles the Scottish city of Edinburgh. It attracts cruise passengers with interesting city tours and day trips. A popular overnight trip is Milford Sound (via Queenstown).
