Cunard Line celebrated the 100th anniversary of its first world voyage in Southampton (England UK) as its Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria ships departed on their round-the-world voyages.
The journeys are among a number of world voyages to get underway in January 2023.
Festivities included a firework display in the port city.
The itineraries of the liners will mirror a number of port calls by RMS Laconia/RMS Samaria during their first trips. RMS Laconia made her maiden voyage on May 25th, 1922, sailing from Southampton UK to New York. RMS Samaria was completed back in 1922 and was operated by Cunard Line until 1955.
Cunard announced earlier this week that it will celebrate 100 years since the company introduced onboard photographers and launched its first world cruise with a photo exhibition curated by renowned photographer Mary McCartney.
