Doha Port (Qatar) received a total of 3798 tourists aboard Costa Cruises' ship Costa Toscana, on Sunday, January 22nd, on her 2nd voyage after the start of the 2022-2023 cruise season of Qatar Tourism.
The Italy-flagged vessel has LOA length 337 m, 20 decks, 2663 staterooms, water park, 4 swimming pools, 9 outdoor Jacuzzies, 13 dining venues, 19 entertainment venues.
Toscana arrived on her first voyage to Qatar in January 2023.
The current tourist season will continue until April. It is scheduled to welcome 58 international cruise ships, adding to 4 tourism companies that launch their first trips to Qatar.
Qatar's cruise sector has contributed to strengthening the position of the country as a leading destination in the region for cruise tourism. The sector supports the growth of the national economy by increasing tourism spending, as well as providing more employment/business opportunities.
Since the restart of cruise tourism in 2021-2022 after being halted by the COVID crisis, Qatar's cruise sector has recorded significant growth. the port of Doha received ~8,000 visitors in December 2022, most of whom came from Italy & Russia, while the number of visitors during the previous cruise season was ~100,500 passengers.
