RCG-Royal Caribbean Group announced it will open an office in Cyprus.
The new office is expected to serve as the company's center for cruise activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
According to Deputy Maritime Affairs Minister Vasilis Dimitriadis, the commitment and the trust Royal Caribbean had shown in the Cypriot flag of convenience created conditions for further strengthening of cooperation, which would bring significant benefits both for Cyprus Shipping, but also more widely and in the consolidation of Cyprus as a centre of world-class cruises, for further strengthening country's tourism sector.
Ruth Marshall (RCG's Vice President, International General Counsel & Managing Director) said they had fostered an incredibly close relationship with the Cypriot authorities during the last few years and were excited to continue their growth by opening an office in Limassol.
“Cyprus continues to rank as one of the top shipping registries globally and has a well-established shipping and ship management center. The Government of Cyprus has provided invaluable assistance to us, and we are excited to grow our Mediterranean business from Cyprus.”
Royal Caribbean's decision to open the Group office in Cyprus was a tangible example of how the Government was turning a crisis into an opportunity, Mr. Dimitriadis revealed in a statement.
He welcomed the Royal Caribbean's announcement of the opening of an office in Cyprus, and the registration of a cruise ship in the Cypriot registry, "specifically the ship Spectrum of the Seas, which, since last Friday, has raised the flag of Cyprus."
