A 57-year-old woman is in a hospital after the U.S. Coast Guard rescued her by flight from an RCI-Royal Caribbean cruise ship ~50 miles off Galveston (Texas).
The watchstanders got the request for an evacuation just after 09:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23rd, from the crew of Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas.
The crew members reported the woman was unconscious and reportedly suffering from a possible stroke.
A helicopter crew took the cruise passenger and the ship's nurse to the island's University of Texas Medical Branch.
No other information has been available so far.
At the time of the accident, the ship was on a 7-day round-trip Western Caribbean Cruise from Galveston which started on January 22nd, 2023, and ends on January 29th, 2023. Ports of call include Roatan Island, Mahogany Bay-Coxen Hole, Honduras (Jan 25), Costa Maya, Quintana Roo Mexico, Riviera Maya (Jan 26), and Cozumel, Quintana Roo Mexico, Riviera Maya (Jan 27).
