Due to a small cabin fire, around 850 people (~600 passengers plus ~250 crew) were evacuated from a Viking Ocean Cruises ship docked at White Bay Cruise Terminal in Sydney (NSW Australia).
The tourists were escorted off Viking Orion around 9 am NSW time (before 10 pm UTC) today.
The fire impacted one passenger stateroom and affected two more/adjacent cabins. It was suspected to have been caused by a faulty electrical device used in the cabin.
Nobody has been injured as a result of the fire.
Passengers were disembarked and transferred via buses to alternative accommodations.
In a statement, Viking said it did not expect the fire would impact the current voyage's itinerary.
