Viking River Cruises announced it would welcome a newbuild Viking Longship (named Nerthus) purpose-built for Seine River cruising, to its fleet in 2025.

Operating the popular 8-day "Paris and the Heart of Normandy" itinerary, the sistership will join 4 boats that were inaugurated in 2022 - Fjorgyn, Kari, Radgrid, and Skaga.

The 5 new riverboats are specifically designed to navigate the Seine and bring passengers to the heart of Paris City, a short walk from the Eiffel Tower.

Torstein Hagen (company's Chairman) said France continued to be among the most popular destinations for their guests, and they were pleased to expand their fleet on the Seine to meet that demand.

"With our exclusive docking location at Port de Grenelle, even more guests will soon be able to explore the 'City of Light' in the Viking way."

Hosting 168 passengers in 84 staterooms, the Viking Longships sailing on the Seine feature an Aquavit Terrace and a variety of stateroom choices, as well as the company's signature Scandinavian design aesthetic. They have a hybrid propulsion system with batteries and are equipped for shore power in order to reduce reliance on fuel while in port. Solar panels further contribute to energy efficiency.
