P&O UK named singer Nicole Scherzinger as the godmother to the fleet's newest ship Arvia.
Scherzinger is popular for being the lead singer of the American band The Pussycat Dolls as well as a judge on The X Factor.
She will attend the naming ceremony of the new vessel in the Caribbean on March 16th.
Scherzinger follows in the footsteps of Dame Kelly Holmes, Dame Helen Mirren, and Dame Irene Hays as a godmother for a P&O UK ship.
P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said that as a global superstar, Nicole was "well placed to create contemporary and breathtaking late-night shows which will be performed in SkyDome on our two newest ships Iona and Arvia."
“We could not be more thrilled that she has agreed to be Arvia’s godmother and will be with us on March 16 when Arvia is officially named in the Caribbean. The ceremony will be broadcast live and will include a performance from Olly Murs as well as Nicole’s striking show finale.
“As part of the fabric of the iconic British theatrical and live music sector, with hundreds of performers every year, we are always striving to set new standards for the quality of our on board shows and this association with Nicole takes that to another level.”
Scherzinger said she had always felt as though she was honorary Brit and to be asked to name Arvia in Barbados really was the icing on the cake and she could not wait to perform her godmother duties in the most beautiful of Caribbean locations.
P&O Arvia entered service on December 23rd, 2022, and is currently sailing in the Caribbean, based on homeporting in Antigua (St John's) through to March 11th.
The 5,200-passenger liner, which is the 2nd in the fleet to be powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas), will reposition to the Mediterranean for the summer season.
