Almaco announced the company had finished a catering modernization project onboard ms Westerdam. The work had been delivered last month.
MS Westerdam is one HAL-Holland America's Vista-class ships, with sisters Noordam, Oosterdam, and Zuiderdam.
In January, Westerdam departed from Sydney (NSW Australia) to Singapore for a drydock refurbishment.
Almaco was awarded the turnkey contract to modernize galley/kitchen areas during the drydocking. The scope of works included adding flight-type/rack-type dishwashers in the lido pot wash area on Deck 9 as well as replacing a variety of equipment across the ship. A hole had to be cut in the bulkhead in order to access the pot washing area, which meant the project also consisted of the removal/replacement of the interior in the passenger dining room situated on the other side of the bulkhead.
Herve Touzard (Almaco Group's Deputy President of the Lifecycle division) said the collaboration between Holland America and Almaco had made the project a success.
"The project went smoothly and according to plans. We at ALMACO would be happy to continue the collaboration and have future projects with Holland America Line.”
