P&O Cruises’ newbuild ship Arvia was officially named on Thursday, March 16th, in a beachside ceremony in Barbados (Bridgetown).
Paul Ludlow (President P&O Cruises) welcomed Mia Mottley (Barbados Prime Minister) and Dickon Mitchell (Grenada Prime Minister).
Before introducing Arvia's Captain Robert Camby, Ludlow described the new vessel as a 'creation of years of vision, design, technical, environmental and engineering excellence.’
Performances came from the godmother, popular singer Nicole Scherzinger, and Olly Murs.
Chart-topper Murs performed some of his popular hits, including ‘Troublemaker’ and ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ during the festivities, which took place at Arvia’s SkyDome/Heywood’s Beach.
Scherzinger sang ‘Don’t Cha’ from her girl band The Pussycat Dolls, and a cover of Nina Simone’s ‘I Put A Spell On You.’
Hosts were the British DJ celebrities Sara Cox and Trevor Nelson.
Scherzinger will be creating music/dance shows for P&O as part of an exclusive partnership. Details will be revealed later in 2023.
