Heritage Expeditions NZ brought its sisterships together for the first time with a special rendezvous in the Bay of Islands.
The family-owned NZ company’s 140-passenger flagship Heritage Adventurer and 18-passenger yacht Heritage Explorer anchored alongside each other off the seaside town of Russell (Bay of Islands, New Zealand).
The rendezvous took place while Heritage Adventurer was on the "Best of New Zealand" voyage and Heritage Explorer had just completed the "Islands of the Hauraki Gulf" voyage.
According to Heritage Expeditions Directors Aaron and Nathan Russ, Russell was the perfect location for the family reunion of its purpose-built expedition ships.
“With its rich history of New Zealand firsts, we couldn’t think of a better destination to bring our incredible exploration vessels together for the first time,” Aaron said.
Nathan, Expedition Leader on Heritage Adventurer, said it was the perfect opportunity for the respective ships’ expedition teams and crew to experience and cross-train on each vessel.
“It was an exciting time for everyone on both ships and an excellent opportunity to explore and experience our unique vessels and what makes each ship so special.”
Following the rendezvous, Heritage Adventurer departed on Heritage Expeditions' 29-day tropical pacific island cruise Grand Pacific Odyssey, bound for Japan.
Heritage Explorer set sail on a charter expedition of Hauraki Gulf and Coromandel.
