Viking OCEAN has officially taken delivery of its newest ship - Viking Saturn.
The delivery ceremony was held this morning at Fincantieri's shipyard in Ancona Italy. The vessel will be named on June 6th in New York City by her godmother, Ann Ziff, who is a philanthropist and chairman of the Metropolitan Opera, a long-time cultural partner of Viking.
After the naming ceremony, Viking Saturn will embark on two new for Viking voyages - ‘Iconic Iceland, Greenland & Canada’ (between NYC and Reykjavik Iceland) and ‘Iceland & Norway’s Arctic Explorer’ (between Reykjavik and Bergen Norway).
Ann Ziff is a passionate advocate for the arts, education, and environmental conservation, and is dedicated to bringing culture and the arts into the lives of underprivileged children. She co-founded Smile Train and was a board member at Maloto, an organization that provides education and housing for abused and abandoned girls in Malawi. Ziff also has her own fine jewelry brand, Tamsen Z, which is inspired by her love of culture, art, music, and travel.
Viking Saturn's delivery comes as Viking Cruises celebrates its 25th anniversary, following a successful single month of bookings in January 2023.
Since 2020, Viking has added 17 new ships to its fleet, all of which are nearly identical in size and design. These ocean vessels boast 47,800 gross tons and can accommodate up to 930 guests, offering all-balcony cabins, aft infinity pools, and cozy Scandinavian interior design.
