A male passenger on Spirit of Tasmania 2 cruiseferry has reportedly died after going overboard.
The man's body was recovered from the water off Geelong (Victoria Australia) at ~8:50 pm (10:50 UTC) on Sunday, April 30th.
The crew had earlier told other passengers that the body had been safely retrieved.
The bound for Tasmania vessel turned around shortly after 8 pm as a search for the missing man and a headcount was conducted onboard.
The passenger's death is not being treated as suspicious.
The 1998-built ferryboat is now returning to Devonport Tasmania.
It comes days after an Australian man went overboard from a Royal Caribbean ship.
The 35-year-old Warwick Tollemache, from Brisbane QLD, was recently identified as the man who fell from Quantum OTS into the Pacific ~900 km south of Hawaii USA late Tuesday night.
A spokesperson for Victoria Police said they would prepare a report for the Coroner after a man’s body had been recovered from waters off Geelong at about 8:50 PM on Sunday, April 30th.
