US Coast Guard helicopter teams in San Diego CA rescued 4 people with serious medical conditions from 3 different cruise ships within a 24-hour period starting on Friday night, April 28th.
The captain of Carnival Panorama contacted the USCG to report a 47-year-old woman was experiencing a severe illness. A helicopter was dispatched and the woman was taken to the Scripps Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Later, another helicopter was sent to pick up two female passengers from Majestic Princess, one reportedly had stroke-like symptoms, and the other had kidney failure. Both women were taken to Scripps Memorial.
The same helicopter was sent to Carnival Spirit to rescue an 84-year-old woman who was reportedly suffering from stroke-related symptoms. She was taken to the Coast Guard Sector San Diego for emergency medical services, and no updates have been given about her condition.
According to USCG officials, the rescue aircrews recorded a total of 7.2 hours of flight time to conduct the 3 medevacs.
