The newly-expanded harbour of Port Aberdeen Scotland welcomed its first cruise ship call.
The GBP 400 million South Harbour, which is both larger/deeper, has been the UK's largest marine infrastructure project.
The first cruise ship call on Tuesday morning, May 1st, was the 202-meter (663-ft) long AIDAaura, which has the capacity to carry 1200+ passengers.
The capacity for cruise ships is expected to provide a boost to the tourist industry.
AIDAaura arrived from Hamburg Germany for a full-day visit as part of the current itinerary.
Aberdeen is due to welcome 39 cruise ship calls between May and October 2023, with up to 31,000 passengers.
50+ calls are booked for next year.
