Phoenix Reisen's luxury cruise ship Amadea carrying 749 passengers made a visit to Oman's largest cruise port Salalah, as part of the 153-day World Voyage ("Die grose Entdecker-Weltumrundung"/"The great discovery tour around the world" itinerary) roundtrip from Nice/Villefranche-sur-Mer (France).
While the ship was docked, the tourists ventured out to explore the city of Salalah and its Middle-Eastern traditional markets called souks, as well as its beaches in the Wilayat of Salalah.
The cruise's itinerary began at Port Sultan Qaboos in the Muscat Governorate and ended at Port Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), with excursions to popular tourist destinations and historical sites in the Governorate of Dhofar.
The voyage features 15 overnight port stays and provides a unique opportunity for tourists to enjoy a 5-month long cruise leaving roundtrip from France.
The Port of Salalah, previously known as Raysut Harbour, Mina' Raysut, or Port Raysut, is equipped with a general cargo terminal and a container ship terminal, providing shipping services to the region and can accommodate large ships with max draught of 16 m / 52,5 ft.
