The UK-based Fred Olsen Cruise Lines and its two ships - Bolette and Borealis, recently made their inaugural shore power connections during port calls in Bergen (Norway) and San Francisco (California USA).
Borealis was the first ship in the fleet provided with shore-to-ship power/electricity supply during a transit call to San Francisco on April 17th as part of the 'Around the World in 80 Days' voyage.
One week later, Fred Olsen's flagship Bolette also connected to shore power during a call to Bergen and was provided with 27000 KW of renewable electricity/hydropower for 7 hours.
Bolette will make another shore power connection in Bergen on May 23rd, and both vessels will use any available shore power connections in other ports of call in the future.
