MSC Cruises hosted a special event onboard its MSC Musica ship at the port of Piraeus (Athens, Greece) to celebrate the ship's summer 2023 season (May-Nov) in the Eastern Mediterranean. This marks the 2nd time that MSC has a Greece-homeported liner and the first time that Musica will be based in the country.
MSC Musica is due to be operating 26 seven-night cruises until November, with ports of call including Mykonos and Santorini in Greece, Kusadasi Turkey, Haifa Israel, and Limassol Cyprus.
MSC had announced its intention to increase capacity to cater to the demand from Greeks/international passengers, and MSC Musica is expected to fulfill the objective.
Angelo Capurro (Sales Executive Director, New Emerging Markets, MSC) said that when they first based a ship last year in Piraeus (MSC Lirica) they said that for the 2023 summer season, they would increase their capacity to cater to the growth in demand from Greek holidaymakers, as well as international guests.
"MSC Musica fulfills that objective and we’re very confident of a successful sailing season and welcoming many repeat holidaymakers onboard as well as those that are new to cruise."
In addition to the 7 ships in the Eastern Mediterranean, MSC ‘Stay & Cruise’ packages launched last year will be available from July 2023 to include a 2-night ‘Athens Experience’ in a 4-star hotel with airport/port transfers. MSC Cruises has made Greece the main focus of its summer 2023 season.
