TUI Cruises, a partnership between TUI AG and RCG/Royal Caribbean Group, has celebrated its 15th anniversary at sea.
The Hamburg-based company has prioritized environmental protection and resource conservation since its inception in 2007.
In its anniversary year, TUI has launched a new sustainability strategy and climate protection plan for its brands "Mein Schiff" and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. In collaboration with the TUI Group, TUI Cruises has verified its emissions reduction targets using the latest climate science and the Paris Climate Agreement.
By 2030, TUI aims to reduce its CO2 emissions by 27.5% compared to 2019, making it the only ocean cruise company with an approved absolute climate protection target.
All TUI ships will use ultra-low emission fuels such as green methanol and sustainable biofuels, consistent green shore power use in ports, and energy efficiency measures across its fleet to achieve its ambitious decarbonization program.
The Science Based Targets initiative has endorsed the emission reduction goals of TUI Group's cruise businesses.
