The vibrant worlds of two beloved computer-animated Disney comedy films - "Encanto" (2021) and "Soul" (2020) - have been brought to life for the first time on MS Disney Magic ship, taking guests on a magical journey from the enchanting mountains of Colombia to the bustling streets of New York City.
As part of a 3-week drydock project in Freeport Bahamas, the ship's concierge accommodations received delightful theming and spacious refurbishments.
Guests can now partake in an immersive experience called "An Encanto Celebration," where they can engage in music, crafts, and storytelling alongside the fantastical Madrigal family. This interactive adventure allows guests to meet and take photos with Mirabel and Bruno, a family member making their debut on DCL/Disney Cruise Line. Families can also enjoy a spirited sing-along of beloved "Encanto" songs and create butterfly and flower crafts inspired by the film. During the show, guests can indulge in a true taste of South America with a selection of local Colombian beers, cocktails, sodas, and film-inspired mocktails.
Inspired by the heartfelt story of "Soul," the ship now features the Soul Cat Lounge, designed to resemble Joe Gardner's favorite music spot, the Half Note Lounge. Located near Rapunzel's Royal Table restaurant (aft on deck 3), this jazz-inspired lounge immerses guests in a classic New York jazz club ambiance, complete with brick walls, wooden accents, and comfortable leather seating surrounding a stage where live music performances take place each evening. The Soul Cat Lounge showcases custom artwork from Pixar, featuring nods to the film, including record labels, concert posters, and portraits of jazz legend Dorothea Williams and her bandmates. The design incorporates subtle "Soul"-inspired elements like record players, instruments, and Joe's hat.
Adults can further enhance their experience in the big city atmosphere by enjoying table-side Manhattans, martinis, native brews, and cocktails made with New York spirits. A delightful array of mocktails, specialty coffees, sodas, and Little Italy-inspired zeppoles (fried doughnuts) are also available. Guests can savor these treats while immersing themselves in the live music performances.
For those seeking a luxurious and exclusive experience, the concierge spaces on the Disney Magic have been elevated and transformed. The concierge lounge now features a sophisticated theme and tropical color palette inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Moana." Additionally, an outdoor covered seating area on deck 10 allows guests to relax while enjoying refreshing beverages and the ocean breeze. All concierge suites, including one- and two-bedroom accommodations, as well as the two signature royal suites, have been completely refurbished with new fixtures, furniture, and elegant artwork, further elevating the premium experience for concierge guests.
As part of the ship's drydocking, shore power technology has been installed, showcasing DCL's commitment to minimizing environmental impact. This technology enables Disney Magic to "plug in" to the port city's electrical grid, reducing the CO and NO emissions when available.
Currently, Disney Magic is sailing its first of three itineraries from San Juan Puerto Rico. Starting on May 24th, the liner returns to PortMiami for a summer season to ports in The Bahamas and the Caribbean, including the "Silver Anniversary at Sea" celebration in honor of DCL's 25th anniversary. In the fall, the Disney Magic will head west for its inaugural season sailing out of San Diego.
