On Friday, May 19th, the Shanghai Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau and CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co Ltd organized an event to announce the name of the first large cruise ship manufactured domestically in Shanghai.
The ship has been named Adora Magic City in recognition of Shanghai's local nickname and to emphasize its local design and construction, as well as its aim to provide travelers with a luxurious travel experience.
Passengers aboard the ship will have the opportunity to explore the world's largest tax-free shop on a cruise vessel, enjoy access to 5G internet, and indulge in musical performances and talk shows.
The China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), the parent company of CSSC Cruise Technology Development, stated that the liner is set to be delivered by the end of 2023.
Under the new brand Adora Cruises, Adora Magic City will primarily operate on international routes to Japan and Southeast Asia, with roundtrip departures from homeport Shanghai. In the future, the liner may also operate on medium and long routes, allowing travelers to visit destinations along the Maritime Silk Road.
With dimensions of 323,6 meters in length and a volume of 135,500 GT-tons, the ship has a maximum capacity of 5246 passengers.
