The projected arrival of cruise passengers in Port Alicante (Spain) this year is breaking all previous records.
According to data from the Association for Cruise Tourism, 200,000+ passengers are expected to visit on 86 different ships. This number includes both stopovers and instances where Alicante serves as a home port for embarkation and disembarkation.
One notable aspect is the increased presence of MSC Cruises, which has chosen Alicante as a home port and has doubled its commitment to the city in 2023 due to the positive results achieved in the previous year. The liners MSC Lirica and MSC Orchestra will collectively make 25 voyages out of Alicante.
MSC's homeport operations are particularly beneficial to the local economy, as the average expenditure per tourist exceeds EUR 300. This includes expenses on hotel accommodations, shopping, and excursions before/after the cruise.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that 7 cruise ships will be making their inaugural calls in Alicante this year, further highlighting the growing popularity of the city as a cruise destination.
