A passenger on a CCL-Carnival cruise ship died while swimming on Mystery Island in Vanuatu.
In a statement, Carnival Australia said it was "deeply saddened by the death of a guest on Mystery Island, following what appears to be a medical situation whilst swimming."
“Our Care Team are supporting the guest’s family along with other guests during this difficult time.”
The passenger died while snorkeling on the island.
At the time of the accident, Carnival Splendor was on a 9-day voyage across the South Pacific and departed Sydney (NSW Australia) on Monday, May 15th. The liner is due to sail back to Sydney on Wednesday, May 24th.
