The US Coast Guard has rescued a man experiencing stroke symptoms aboard Celebrity Eclipse on Friday, May 19th, during an emergency evacuation.
The 2000-passenger liner of Celebrity Cruises was 100+ mi off the coast of Oregon when the USCG helicopter arrived, the Coast Guard revealed. As they hovered above the liner, the aircrew lowered a stretcher down to the helipad. A crowd of cruisers watched from the balcony above.
The patient was then flown to the nearby Warrenton OR where he was transferred onto a Life Flight helicopter and taken to Portland's OHSU Hospital.
No additional details about medical evacuation procedures have been unveiled.
