A CCL-Carnival Cruise Line passenger went overboard on the Carnival Magic ship on Monday, May 29th.
USCG crews were searching for the 35-year-old man, who went overboard ~300 km (186 mi) east of Jacksonville (JAXPORT Florida USA), the Coast Guard revealed on Twitter.
In a statement, a CCL spokesperson said the man was reported missing by his fiance (Jennilyn Michelle Blosser) late Monday afternoon. An initial review of CCTV footage confirmed that "he leaned over the railing of his stateroom balcony and dropped into the water at approximately 4:10 am Monday."
The USCG released the cruise ship from search and rescue efforts and advised the captain to continue on to Norfolk VA, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that the Carnival Care Team was providing support to the guest's companion/traveling party who were onboard.
At the time of the incident, Carnival Magic was on a 5-day roundtrip from Norfolk Virginia to the Bahamas (Nassau and Freeport).
