P&O Australia has announced that its summer 2025 season includes Western Australia, coinciding with the celebration of 90 years of cruising Australia.
Marguerite Fitzgerald (P&O AU's President) expressed that there is no better place than the magnificent Western Australian coastline to experience a P&O voyage. She also mentioned that this year is a significant milestone as P&O celebrates its 90th year as an Australian icon.
As the 2023 homeporting season for Pacific Explorer comes to an end, P&O has delighted guests with visits to various destinations, including Albany, Busselton, Fremantle, Geraldton, Exmouth, Broome, and Kimberley. The recent eclipse was also witnessed onboard.
To commemorate its 90th anniversary, P&O Australia welcomed 90+ guests, suppliers, and partners aboard the Pacific Explorer at Fremantle Harbour as part of its national Thank You Tour. Representatives from the Western Australian Government, Tourism Western Australia, and the City of Fremantle joined in the celebration, which included a colorful streamer throwing ceremony, the captain cutting a 90-cm tall cake, and local food and entertainment.
Carolyn Turnbull, Managing Director of Tourism WA, acknowledged the positive impact that Carnival Australia and P&O Cruises have on Western Australia's tourism operators and economy. She expressed excitement about the ongoing partnership with P&O Cruises and highlighted the importance of these visits to local communities and small businesses in the state. She also emphasized the alignment of cruise tourism with Western Australia's tourism brand, "Walking on a Dream," inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the magic of the ancient land.
Fitzgerald emphasized P&O Cruises' support for local Western Australian suppliers across various industries, including farmers and distributors who supply large quantities of goods to the Pacific Explorer. During the two-month home season in Western Australia, significant amounts of fresh milk and local produce are utilized onboard, totaling 40,000 liters of milk and 100,000 kilograms of produce.
Fitzgerald concluded by expressing gratitude to all those who have supported P&O Cruises over the past 90 years and extended cheers to many more decades of sailing together in the future.
