On Sunday, June 25th, a passenger aboard RCI-Royal Caribbean's Mariner OTS cruise ship was rescued after going overboard.
The incident occurred ~27 NM (31 mi/50 km) south of Punta Cana in Dominicana while the vessel was en route to Willemstad Curacao. The USCG Sector San Juan (Puerto Rico) received a report at ~05:45 p.m., confirming that the ship's crew had successfully rescued the 42-year-old woman from the water. The passenger, who had reportedly fallen from her cabin's balcony on deck 10, was found alive and in good health.
Upon discovering the incident, the ship and crew promptly notified local authorities and initiated a search for the guest. The Royal Caribbean spokesperson expressed gratitude that the passenger was safely recovered and brought back on board. The cruise line's Care team is now providing assistance and support to the passenger and their traveling party. The woman was initially taken to the ship's medical facility and later transferred to a hospital in Willemstad for evaluation.
The USCG has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the passenger's fall overboard. Despite the incident, the voyage continued as scheduled.
