AOV-Atlas Ocean Voyages has improved its onboard internet connectivity by partnering with Starlink, a high-speed Wi-Fi service provider for maritime travel.
This partnership enables AOV to offer Starlink on its operational ships World Traveller and World Navigator, as well as on the upcoming World Voyager. Passengers on these expeditions will receive a complimentary 1 GB of high-speed Wi-Fi, ensuring they can stay connected while at sea.
To ensure a stable connection on their constantly moving expedition yachts, AOV utilizes Starlink's internet service, which is powered by a network of lower earth (LEO) satellites. The reliability and performance of this service were tested in 2022 at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, where researchers provided positive feedback about the platform.
James Rodriguez (AOV's President and CEO) acknowledged the importance of staying connected with loved ones or working while on their yachts. He emphasized that Starlink's Wi-Fi service offers reliable connectivity worldwide, even in the most remote polar regions, greatly enhancing the onboard experience for guests.
