On July 18th, while the cruise ship Celebrity Infinity was docked at Port Kerkyra (Corfu Island, (Greece), a 48-year-old male crew (refrigerant assistant) who was performing maintenance on equipment accidentally hurt a right-hand finger.
Upon receiving the information, the Corfu Port Authority activated standard safety protocols and the injured man was swiftly taken to a local private clinic for the medical treatment.
At the time of the incident, Celebrity Infinity was in the midst of a 7-night "Greece & Croatia" voyage, which began on July 15th from Piraeus-Athens. After the necessary medical assistance, the ship continued with the planned itinerary.
The Greek authorities have started a preliminary investigation into the incident, led by the Corfu Port Authority. The initial report did not disclose the nationality or identity of the injured crew member.
