On Monday, July 31st, a passenger fell overboard from RCI-Royal Caribbean's cruise ship, Spectrum of the Seas, while en route to Singapore.
The cruise line promptly informed local authorities and initiated a search and rescue operation, as stated by a spokesperson in an email. The ship's team is collaborating with local authorities, and their Care team is providing assistance and support to the family affected by the incident.
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Singapore was notified about the incident around 7:50 a.m.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the guest went overboard in the Singapore Strait. MRCC Singapore is leading the search efforts and has issued navigational safety broadcasts to all vessels in the Singapore Strait and nearby ports, requesting them to be vigilant and report any sightings of the missing person to MRCC Singapore.
Spectrum OTS had been returning from a 4-day roundtrip to Malaysia, which had departed on July 27th.
