Emerald Cruises' newest superyacht, Emerald Sakara, embarked on her inaugural voyage on August 5th, out of Port Piraeus/Athens Greece. The boat was at full capacity as all its tickets were sold out.
The subsequent day, the sistership Emerald Azzurra formally welcomed Emerald Sakara into the fleet, and together embarked on a scenic passing through the Corinth Canal.
Supervised by Captain Jonathan Edwards, who previously captained Emerald Azzurra during her debut in 2022, Emerald Sakara is now navigating the 8-day Ionian Sea Adventure route, taking passengers from Athens to Rome (Civitavecchia). This journey included guided explorations of Delphi, visits to the breathtaking Cephalonia island in Greece, and stops at Giardini Naxos in Sicily. The yacht then cruised along the western coast of Italy, making stops at Amalfi, Sorrento, Capri Island, and ultimately concluding the voyage in Civitavecchia/Rome.
Although closely resembling her sistership, Emerald Sakara boasts enhanced and elegant interiors, including contributions from renowned furniture brands like Tribu and Gervasoni, as well as lighting by designer Tom Dixon, and a captivating collaboration between Freifrau and Missoni. Technological upgrades feature Starlink internet services.
Glen Moroney, the Chairman and founder of Scenic Group, expressed his excitement about the launch of Emerald Sakara, praising the hard work of the design and construction team. He emphasized the positive reception of the yacht cruising program by guests, travel advisors, and charter partners. The addition of Emerald Sakara just a year after the launch of Emerald Azzurra reflects the program's success and the opportunity to introduce new and exciting destinations to guests.
Following its debut in August, Emerald Sakara will embark on a summer season exploring the coastal waters of Italy, Greece, Turkey, and the Adriatic. Subsequently, both Emerald Sakara and Emerald Azzurra will cross the Atlantic for the winter season, cruising in the warm waters of the Caribbean and Central America. The inaugural Eastern Caribbean and the Grenadines sailing is scheduled for November 18th, 2023. A christening ceremony for Emerald Sakara will take place on December 2nd in San Juan Puerto Rico, with Kelly Craighead, president and CEO of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), serving as the godmother.
For bookings in 2023 and 2024 Caribbean voyages, passengers can enjoy economy airfare for staterooms and premium economy for suites. Canadian guests have the opportunity to save CAD $700 per couple when fully paying 10 months before departure. A unique chance to celebrate New Year's Eve onboard a luxury yacht is available through the eight-day Hidden Charms of the Caribbean voyage on Emerald Sakara, departing from St John’s Antigua, on December 30th, 2023.
