Virgin Voyages made an announcement on August 16th regarding alterations to its forthcoming August 18th voyage (5-day Dominican Daze itinerary roundtrip from Miami Florida) scheduled for the Scarlet Lady ship.
Initially slated to encompass a visit to Puerto Plata (Dominicana), the itinerary was revised and now will visit Cockburn Town (Grand Turk Island) instead. This sudden shift was precipitated by the necessity for extensive engine maintenance, a routine procedure that, as stated in the official update, has extended beyond its originally projected duration.
Passengers who have eagerly anticipated the Dominican Daze experience need not despair, as Virgin Voyages has endeavored to ensure that the affected itinerary still offers a delightful array of curated Shore Things, tailored to enhance the Grand Turk experience. It is worth noting that the remainder of the itinerary is expected to remain largely unaffected by these adjustments.
Virgin Voyages' flagship Scarlet Lady embarked on her maiden voyage in the UK in 2021. This milestone marked the inception of the brand's journey, subsequently punctuated by the introduction of the ships Valiant Lady and Resilient Lady. The fourth vessel - Brilliant Lady, is scheduled for inauguration in December 2023.
“To keep Scarlet Lady in ship shape, she’s undergoing routine engine maintenance that is taking a bit longer than originally anticipated, which will affect her upcoming voyage departing Friday, Aug. 18”.
“As we always want to offer our Sailors an incredible experience and extended time in port, we will be replacing Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and calling on Grand Turk in the beautiful island of Turks & Caicos.
We know it may be disappointing to our Sailors who had their hearts set on a Dominican Daze itinerary, but confident that our selection of new Shore Things in the stunning destination of Turks & Caicos will be just as memorable.”
