Passengers onboard Disney Fantasy have reported that the ship didn't make the scheduled stop at Disney’s private island Castaway Cay on Friday, September 8th, due to engine issues with the liner.
According to the message sent within the Disney app from Fantasy’s Captain, the engine issue had caused a loss of speed, and the liner would need to make her way to Port Canaveral (Orlando, Florida) in order to arrive there by her scheduled time on Saturday morning, September 9th.
Captain Michele Intartaglia assured the cruisers that there were no safety concerns due to the engine issue.
The letter said:
“This is Captain Michele. I apologize for such a late message; however, I have some important information to share with you. Earlier this evening we experienced an engine technical challenge. This has resulted in a loss of speed. There is no cause for any concern and our safety is in no way compromised. Due to our loss of speed, we will not be able to make our call at Castaway Cay and we will proceed directly to Port Canaveral to arrive as per our original schedule. A letter detailing more information will be delivered to your stateroom overnight. Please continue to enjoy your evening. Thank you for your understanding.“
Travelers are being given a 25% FCC (Future Cruise Credit) and a $250 onboard credit per stateroom for the inconvenience.
The delay is not expected to impact Disney Fantasy's next itinerary.
Disney Fantasy's current voyage is 7 days, round-trip Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral with Silver Anniversary At Sea. The itinerary started on September 2nd, 2023, and ends on September 9th, 2023.
