Cunard has entered an exclusive partnership with the British Film Institute (BFI), signaling an exciting venture for film enthusiasts leading up to the launch of Queen Anne.
The renowned luxury cruise line has revealed a 3-year collaboration with the United Kingdom's leading organization for film, television, and the moving image. This partnership will feature a curated selection of short films and beloved blockbusters exclusively screened on the outdoor display within The Pavilion, a tranquil open-air space situated on the top deck of Cunard's latest ship, Queen Anne.
The Pavilion, designed by David Collins Studio, is a versatile area featuring a retractable glass dome roof, ideal for enjoying a book or a refreshing dip in the pool during the day and for socializing over a glass of wine in the evening. Its aesthetic design is reminiscent of a vessel sailing through serene waters, offering a seamless transition from one experience to the next. Architect Martin Francis, known for his contributions to the iconic Louvre Pyramid in Paris, has led the redesign of the glass dome, incorporating an arched steel frame to maximize height and natural light. This transformation includes the creation of a new Wellness Studio.
Queen Anne ship's design boasts a volume of 113,000 GT-tons, 3353 passengers (max capacity) plus 1225 staff/crew, 13 decks, 1397 staterooms, plenty of experiences and expanded choices in entertainment, dining, and bars.
In addition to the partnership with The Pavilion on Queen Anne, Cunard will serve as a key sponsor of the 67th BFI London Film Festival, in conjunction with American Express. The festival will take place at various venues in London and nine partner cinemas across the UK from October 4 to 15, as well as in 2024 and 2025. On October 11, the Cunard Gala will support the European premiere of "The Holdovers" at the BFI London Film Festival, presented in association with Universal Pictures and Focus Features, at the Royal Festival Hall in the Southbank Centre. "The Holdovers" is a new American comedy-drama directed by acclaimed filmmaker Alexander Payne.
