The final docking of an AQV-American Queen Voyages ship in Escanaba (Michigan USA) occurred on October 2, marking the conclusion of the 2023 season, as per the company's schedule.

However, it has been confirmed that the cruise ships will not be returning in 2024. Earlier this year, AQV announced its decision to discontinue its Great Lakes cruises and to sell its two Great Lakes-deployed ships - Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager. The primary reason cited for this move was the substantial maintenance costs associated with the vessels, considering they could only be utilized for a portion of the year.

At the time of the announcement, the company expressed its intent to shift its focus towards river cruises.

Throughout the summer and fall, the Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager made a combined total of 28 visits to Escanaba. Each ship had a capacity of approximately 200 passengers. Initially, the cruise line's 28 visits were expected to generate an economic impact of $1.25 million in the Escanaba area.

The first ship, Ocean Navigator, arrived in Escanaba at the North Shore Marine Terminal & Logistics Dock on May 14, coinciding with Mother's Day. The ship's arrival was met with a warm welcome from city officials, community members, and the Escanaba City Band. During a welcoming ceremony, the Captain was presented with the key to the city. Upon disembarkation, passengers received gift bags provided by local businesses and the Delta County Chamber of Commerce.

Over the course of the summer, the ship's buses became a familiar sight as they transported passengers to various destinations in the region.
