Recent attacks by Gaza militants on Israel have prompted itinerary changes on voyages with scheduled visits in Israeli ports. Such incidents in the past have typically led to cruise ships altering their routes.
RCI-Royal Caribbean's liner Odyssey of the Seas has bypassed Israel "due to the geopolitical situation." This decision was made in consultation with security experts, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew, and the vessel itself. Instead, the Odyssey OTS will be redirected to Bodrum in Turkey and Limassol in Cyprus.
RCI continues to offer Greek Isles voyages on Rhapsody of the Seas, departing from Haifa Israel. As of now, there have been no alterations to Rhapsody's upcoming itineraries.
Similarly, Celebrity Cruises has been compelled to cancel some itineraries. Celebrity Apex, for example, was originally scheduled to visit Israel this week. The ship's captain announced the cancellation of all Israeli ports, and the vessel is now heading to Cyprus for an overnight stay. Subsequently, there will be a sea day before arriving in Alexandria Egypt, a day earlier than planned, resulting in an extended stay of three days in Egypt.
It's important to note that Celebrity is not the only cruise line that has been forced to adjust its plans. Passengers on HAL-Holland America Line's ship ms Nieuw Statendam, who were already in Israel, were promptly recalled back onboard due to the situation.
