Costa Cruises, marking its 75th anniversary, is set to host a series of celebrations from October 19th to the 27th in Genoa Italy, where the company's illustrious journey began with the maiden voyage of the "Anna C" in 1948.
The festivities' highlight is the Monumental Tour - a groundbreaking show scheduled for the evening of Friday, October 20th, open to the public. This event at Piazza Matteotti (Genova) will feature a blend of electronic music, cultural heritage, and digital art, curated by French DJ/producer Michael Canitrot.
The concept behind the Monumental Tour is to merge the artistic heritage of cities with cutting-edge technology, offering a fresh perspective on historic monuments. At its center is Palazzo Ducale, with the main facade illuminated in a dazzling display of images and lights, bringing Genova's history and maritime ties to life. This immersive experience sets Palazzo Ducale apart as the first Italian artistic monument to star in such a spectacle.
The celebration will commence with a cocktail party on Costa Toscana, the flagship that docks in Genoa every Friday. The menu, crafted by renowned Italian chef Bruno Barbieri, will be complemented by Ferrari Trento wines, complete with a special label created for the event. Guests can walk the red carpet and enjoy an exclusive photo shoot, followed by a special performance by Italian artist Malika Ayane on board the Costa Toscana.
Amidst the celebrations, Costa continues its tradition of giving back. On October 19th, the company's chefs will prepare a special lunch for approximately 150 guests from the Community of Sant'Egidio. Costa Crociere Foundation has been supporting this organization since 2015, with over one million meals distributed through a food assistance project.
On October 23rd, Italian comedian Angelo Pintus will perform a comedy show at the Politeama Genovese theater. The proceeds from this event will be donated to the Gaslini Paediatric Hospital in Genoa, with Costa doubling the contribution.
Another event on October 27th will see young patients from the Gaslini Hospital and their families visit the Costa Toscana in Genoa for a day of entertainment and a special lunch. They will also be joined by Mattia Villardita, known as "SpiderMan," for an added dose of joy.
Costa Cruises, in line with its commitment to local communities, will also serve as the brand sponsor for the 40th annual assembly of ANCI, the National Association of Italian Municipalities. A workshop on 'Guardiani della Costa,' a national environmental education and 'citizen science' project for Italian students, will be hosted by Costa on October 25th. This multifaceted celebration highlights Costa's remarkable 75-year journey and ongoing community engagement.
