Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) successfully concluded a 3-day 'Destination Showcase' event in Oporto Portugal, gathering 100+ delegates from various parts of Europe. The event featured informative sessions led by experts in ocean and river cruise destinations, along with a river cruise tour through Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, passing beneath the iconic 6 bridges.
Delegates had the opportunity to participate in local tours and excursions, including options such as 'Historic and Modern Porto' and a Vinho Verde tasting experience. Additionally, a trade fair and two hosted dinners took place, hosted at the Porto Cruise Terminal and World of Wine.
To enhance the immersive destination experience, travel agents were treated to lunches at local restaurants.
Andy Harmer (CLIA UK & Ireland's Managing Director) emphasized the significance of Porto as a notable highlight of many cruise itineraries, making it an ideal location for this industry event. The first-hand knowledge gained by all delegates, including travel agents, will enable them to better recommend and promote cruise holidays and destinations.
The Showcase event was made possible with the sponsorship of Visit Porto & North Portugal, Port of Leixões, Area Metropolitana do Porto, and Mail Metro Media, in collaboration with TAP Air Portugal.
